postdoc
I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Exeter. I completed my undergraduate at the University of Nottingham before joining University College London as a Research Assistant where I contributed to the development of novel technologies for identifying the origins of epileptic seizure activity. I completed my PhD in neuroendocrinology at the University of Exeter in 2026, investigating how hypothalamic hormones modulate pituitary activity. My current activity in the Bernard Lab focuses on understanding the role of RNA methylation during cortical development.
Outside the lab, I enjoy spending as much time outdoors as possible. And whether running, climbing or hiking, I will always be sure to bake sufficient snacks for the occasion!
My name is Sam Hardwicke, and I am an undergraduate Neuroscience student at the University of Exeter. Throughout my degree I have developed a strong interest in developmental neurobiology, and I am excited to explore this further with Dr Clémence Bernard and her research team.
Outside of academia, I enjoy playing chess and the drums, as well as competing in a range of sports, particularly football and cricket.
